Quotation Journal

Hello friends!

Dang. It has been a HOT minute since I've written a post; spring has already sprung! Aaaaand with it came the infamous college Spring semester. The semester where the burnout kicks in. The semester that dangles summer right in your face. This semester, I am enrolled in a reading intensive English class with an AMAZING professor (Thank God) that makes annotating and marking texts just a tad bit more bearable. Among the plethora of assignments we as students were tasked with was a semester- long project called a quotation journal. The simple requirements for this assignment were as follows: 26 quotations that you like for whatever reason, typed and double spaced in 12 point font (blah, blah, blah) the date you accessed that quotation, and a reflection done at the end of the assignment in which you point out any themes you noticed or parallels in the way you matured as a student throughout the semester. I LOVED this assignment; I'd even go so far as to say it's been one of my favorites EVER, and I am so so proud of it. Yes, I said proud. Although all I did was simply gather quotations that I discovered through either reading or Pinterest (guilty) and loved and put them together in a document, I am insanely happy with my "curation" if you will, of these and have decided that I love them so much that I simply NEED to share them. WARNING: This post will be lengthy. (I give you credit if you make it to the end sort-of lengthy) But they are of value to me, so if you have some time, maybe reading them could possibly be of some value to you too. :)

As I was gathering quotations for this journal, I exclusively wanted to include ones that encompassed my heart, personality and beliefs. Upon reflection of this collection of quotes, I found that many of the quotes touched upon the strength of the mind of a woman, or human in general for that matter. I am a firm believer that we as humans can do ANYTHING we put our minds to. I am a self- proclaimed feminist and believe that we as women are much, much more than pretty faces and that what we say, do and think MATTERS. That being said, I also believe that who we surround ourselves with is extremely crucial to our growth and maturation. The people we choose to spend our time with are the people that we will become like, and vice versa. I place a very high value on the people whom I choose to surround myself with.

These quotations directly parallel my beliefs and attitudes one hundred percent, and I handpicked them to do so. I am a Christian, and many of the quotes I chose reflect that. I also believe that it is extremely important to be encouragers in life; to build others up and celebrate with them when they succeed. Community is greater than competition. Some of my other quotations are specifically about PASSION. I am also a self- proclaimed (If you haven’t noticed, I proclaim myself many things) “life enthusiast”, meaning that I am passionate about even the little things in life. For example, my overall passion is working with and loving on PEOPLE. However, I am also passionate and (probably a little bit too) enthusiastic about coffee in the morning; waking up and having a warm mug of coffee, even on the go. Another thing I’m passionate about is the Hilo Farmer’s Market; you catch me eating there for lunch on Wednesdays and buying fruits on Saturdays. I’m also extremely goofy, although I don’t usually like people to know that straight away; so I decided to include a few little quirky quotes that I found online. (Just things that make me laugh)

Still here? Wholey moley I give you credit :P I really hope whoever stumbles across this (if anyone at all) finds value in at least one of these quotations, because I know I definitely did. If you've gotten this far in the post, thank you for spending this time with me! I found this assignment extremely refreshing and enjoyed it so so much, so I decided to share. Happy Spring Friends! :)
